The Idea
IT Source 1 has a simple business idea.
That idea is to make IT and Telecommunications simple for you, the average person or business owner.
We have 1 simple goal, and that is to listen to what you want and then work with you to devise a solution that fits what you want and fits most importantly into your budget.
The Types of Technology available to you
Lets talk about the current technology we work with and the next generation technology we want to bring to you. What if I told you the next generation technology is cheaper today than the existing current technology.
- Copper Infrastructure: The typical copper cable run is one Category cable per device. Generally run in a path with a telephone cable which, today is also a Category cable. Types of Category cable CAT5 / CAT5E / CAT6. Copper cable has a general limit of 100 meters before a repeater or switch has to be put in line.
- Wireless Networks: A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a local area network (LAN) that doesn't rely on wired Ethernet connections. A WLAN can be either an extension to a current wired network or an alternative to it. WLANs have data transfer speeds ranging from 1 to 54Mbps, with some manufacturers offering proprietary 108Mbps solutions. The 802.11n standard can reach 300 to 600Mbps. Because the wireless signal is broadcast so everybody nearby can share it, several security precautions are necessary to ensure only authorized users can access your WLAN. A WLAN signal can be broadcast to cover an area ranging in size from a small office to a large campus. Most commonly, a WLAN access point provides access within a radius of 65 to 300 feet.
- Passive Optical Network (PON):A passive optical network (PON) is a point-to-multipoint, fiber to the premises (Wall Plate) network architecture in which unpowered optical splitters are used to enable a single mode optical fiber to serve multiple premises, typically 16 / 32 / 48 / 64 splitter. A PON consists of an optical line terminal (OLT) at the service provider's central office and a number of optical network terminals (ONTs) (at the wall) near end users. A PON reduces the amount of fiber and central office equipment required compared with point-to-point architectures (Copper based). A passive optical network is a form of fiber-optic access network. Downstream signals are broadcasted to all premises sharing multiple fibers. Encryption can prevent eavesdropping. You can cheaply enforce authentication of connected devices. Passive optical networks, or PONs, have some distinct advantages. They're efficient, in that each fiber optic strand can serve up to 32 users. PONs have a low building cost relative to active optical networks along with lower maintenance costs. Because there are few moving or electrical parts, there's simply less that can go wrong in a PON. Think of this… where you run 32 CAT5 cables you would run one single mode fiber cable to do the same job. In a building a normal 4 story office building that an insurance company is working in. with a copper infrastructure you would at a minimum have one IT closet per floor. Each closet would have switches etc.. with the PON you would have one closet with one switch…
- Design Consistency: Achieving and maintaining standards is what makes things easy in this business. Doctors have professional organizations. As do lawyers, police officers and countless others all have professional organizations who have set the standards of how things should be done and what their peers deem as a professional job. This industry also has a couple of professional standards organizations, which we work to maintain and stay up to date. TIA / BICSI are the main ones and oldest in this profession.
- Easy Maintenance: Maintaining standards as outlined by professional standards organizations, staying up to date with TIA / BICSI professional standards are the only way to make the maintenance and repair process simple quick and easier on you the customers wallet.
The Examples of what we do
Here are some examples of what we can do for you.
- Consulting no matter the size or scope of the project
- Design or redesign your infrastructure {Fiber Optic or Wireless}
- Assist in hiring a qualified staff or contractor.
The one thing we want you take away from our site is to know we are different and we are in business for you.
The Owner
I started this company after watching and witnessing what other companies were doing to other businesses. I have been working in the Telecommunications and Information Technology industry for a total of 38 years I have worked with all of the major Information Technology company heavy weights as well as had them working for me. I have also worked with the small and medium sized companies. I have learned one thing from all of this and that lesson is simply. They are not in business for you it is all about them and making the money. I cannot count how many times I have had to go into a situation where someone had a company come into do something simple and it turned into a major project that went way over budget. I go in give the company what they wanted in the first place at a fraction of the cost they were originally quoted. I gave them what they wanted not what I thought they wanted like the other guys do. Thanks and I look forward to working with you.

Quick Password Tip
DO's
Use a password phrase and make it relevant. If you're joining a crossword site, think "knot my pencil" and write it something like this: $%n0tmyP3n$il
DONT's
Use names: pets, businesses, family, friends, etc
Thinking about An IT Contractor
When going into an IT project lay out your plan on paper to include the cabling plan. Educate yourself about the types of cabling. {remember those who do this for a living might have a suggestion} do not make a hasty decision about the project. This is an investment in your business.
